Abstract
The Declaration aspires to preserve that living treasure, and therefore renewable, which is cultural diversity, a diversity that cannot be understood as a static heritage but as a process that guarantees the survival of humanity; It also aspires to avoid any segregationist and fundamentalist temptation that, in the name of cultural differences, sacralizes those same differences and thus distorts the message of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Declaration insists on the fact that each individual must recognize not only otherness in all its forms but also the plurality of his own identity within equally plural societies.Discipline and subdiscipline: Politics; Economy; Sociology; Human rights.
