Juan Lázaro Kaye López, Eduardo Rincón Gallardo
October 8 is celebrated in Mexico the National Day of the Urban Planner and in the celebration of 2021, Juan L. Kaye, president of the AMU (Mexican Association of Urban Planners) and the architect Eduardo Rincón Gallardo, president of the Honor Commission of the AMU, presented the medal "Carlos Lazo Barreiro" to the National Award for Urbanistic Merit.
In his speech, Juan L. Kaye spoke about the task of the urban planner from the integrity of the city, its value to lead the way of planning, ensure welfare conditions, the promotion of citizenship and reduce the inequality gap.
Eduardo Rincón Gallardo defines concepts that permeate urbanist knowledge and theorization: civilization, population, migration, climate change, the real diversity of society, teaching and learning. These are the guidelines mentioned in his speech, which invite attendees to reflect on current urban action.
