Abstract
Notarbartolo di Sciara has contributed for more than 40 years to the advancement of knowledge on the natural history, ecology, behavior, taxonomy and conservation of aquatic vertebrates, with special attention to whales, dolphins, seals, sharks and manta rays. He has contributed to more than 210 scientific publications and books. To this day he continues his work for the study and conservation of marine fauna as a member, consultant, promoter or coordinator of countless international initiatives and platforms, including CIESM.
