Abstract
Genuine leadership in the 21st century must be based on values and virtues that ensure excellence and success in any institution, especially in the university environment. Beyond education and financial investment, the quality of leadership depends on principles such as responsibility, honesty, integrity, and a spirit of service. A true leader must possess key skills such as communication, decision-making, and problem-solving, as well as promote innovation and research. In the university context, leaders must translate the mission and vision into concrete actions that foster academic and administrative excellence. Their responsibilities include leading by example, strengthening teams, building trust, and guiding the institution toward continuous progress. Additionally, the importance of unity, constant improvement, and willpower is emphasized as pillars of effective leadership. Finally, leaders must preserve university traditions and promote a culture based on truth, wisdom, and respect.
