Abstract

Rosa María Franco Velasco

With extensive experience in museums, cultural management, and museology, Rosa María Franco Velasco is an art historian and a specialist who graduated from the technical program in Applied Museography at the Manuel del Castillo Negrete National School of Conservation and Restoration of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) with the final project: Archaeological Museum of the Palenque area, Chiapas.

She has worked on museum scripts, research, teaching, and exhibition coordination, as well as collaborating on community projects through the General Directorate of Popular Cultures.

On behalf of the DGCP, her museological activity allowed her to coordinate the project for the creation of the National Museum of Mexican Popular Art (MUNAP), and a multidisciplinary team worked on her comprehensive museological project.

She has been a representative on the Steering Committee of ICOM-Mexico and a founding member of the Association of Museum Professionals in Mexico. She was also part of the first generation of senior management at ITAM–Getty Foundation Museums and participated in the development of the National Museum of Mexican Popular Art (MUNAP) project.

Her career includes technical work in applied museography, teaching in museology programs, and participation in research for the Book of Museums of Mexico, consolidating her as a leading figure in the country's museum field.
