Abstract

The book presents the history of the formation of the bibliographic collection of the Royal University of Mexico in the 17th century, preserved in the current National Library of Mexico. Throughout the work, it discusses challenges, complex situations, and the actions of figures from New Spain and independent Mexico who faced obstacles in building its bibliographic collection. It also highlights the role of legality as a regulatory framework in the creation and preservation of the Royal University, safeguarded by the current National Library of Mexico. This bibliographic work is a testament to the history, conservation, preservation, and transmission of books in the construction of the Mexican state.
