Abstract
CNEIP 2025 Chairs of Excellence National Council for Teaching and Research in Psychology

Based on the ideals of the founders of the National Council for Teaching and Research in Psychology (CNEIP), as recorded in the founding charter of November 19, 1971, before Notary Public No. 27 of Mexico City. To promote high-level courses for the planning of the profession and the science. To create a national inventory that forms part of a broader research program of the professional service, professional associations, and individual members, along with an inventory of community needs and social communities in the country (CNEIP, 2022). Given the initiative of the individual full members to recover the foundations of the CNEIP, alluding to its role as a training institution and promoter of the updating of psychology in Mexico.
The first CNEIP Chair of Excellence 2025 pays tribute to Dr. Víctor Manuel Alcaraz Romero, a key figure in the consolidation of Mexican psychology. His career spans from his training at UNAM, Paris, and Moscow, to a career dedicated to researching thought, language, learning, and brain injury rehabilitation.
In addition to his scientific output—more than one hundred publications, nine books, and an award-winning novel—he distinguished himself as the founder of neuroscience programs and centers at several universities, transforming the teaching of psychology in Mexico.
His impact is also reflected in his participation in national and international organizations and in recognitions such as the National Prize for Sciences and Arts and the Order of Merit from the French government.
The Chair that bears his name celebrates not only his academic contributions but also his influence on the development and future of Mexican psychology.
